Short Biography

Cesar Chavez was the founder and director of the National Farm Workers Association, later known as the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee. The FBI investigated Chavez and his organization based on allegations in 1965 that he and others within the organization had communist affiliations.

The documents available for release consists of 2,021pages. Enclosed are the first 100 pages of documents which are being released free of charge. Persuant to Title 28, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 16.11, there is a fee of ten cents per page for duplication. Upon receipt of your check or money order payable to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the amount of $192.10 the remaining documents will be copied and forwarded to you.
